Description

Artistic wooden model representing escapement mechanisms used in the first mechanical clocks in Europe. Fully handmade the mechanisms are entertaining and provocative-both in the office and at home. You can use them to intrigue the exploration instincts of your friends and to inspire the scientific curiosity of your children. The earliest escapement in Europe (from about 1275) was the verge escapement, also known as the crown-wheel escapement. It was used in the first mechanical clocks and was originally controlled by a foliot - a horizontal bar with weights at either end.
